Inspired by the authenticity and soul of 80's and 90's country music legends such as Dwight Yoakam, George Strait, Merle Haggard, Waylon Jennings, and Toby Keith, The Poison Oakies deliver a high-energy, dance-able experience that stays true to the original spirit of the genre. Formed in 2015, the band consists of Ian on lead vocals and guitar, Joe on lead guitar and vocals, John on bass guitar, David on keyboards and backing vocals, and Chris on drums and backing vocals. Although primarily a cover band, The Poison Oakies have graced notable venues including the Ironstone Amphitheater, Morgan Hill Amphitheater, Windmill Cove, and the Calaveras County Fair and Frog Jump. Their yet to fulfill dream gig, is to perform at Buck Owens' Crystal Palace in Bakersfield, a symbolic venue of country music tradition.
